West Berkshire makes up over half ofthe geographical area ofthe county of Berkshire ‐ covering an area of 272 squaremiles. It lies on the western fringe ofthe South East region, centrally located, at a crossroads where the South Eastmeetsthe South West and where the south coast comes up tomeetthe southern Midlands.
As such,the districtlies atthe convergence oftwo key road arteriesin the south – the M4 and the A34. Both provide directroad linksin all directions, with all the key urban centresin southern England (London, Reading, Southampton, Portsmouth, Bristol, Oxford, Swindon) within an hour’s drive.
