Sheffield is England’s fourth largest city, the birthplace of UK electronica, and the greenest city in the UK. It’s also Time Out’s pick for the no. 2 City Break destination in Europe. We’ve got an amazing heritage of inventing, making and grafting, plus all the food, theatre, street art, gigs, bars, clubs and festivals you could wish for.
Reporting to the General Counsel, you will be a Deputy Monitoring Officer who will lead and develop democratic services, member support, information governance and electoral services for the City of Sheffield. You’ll provide strategic advice to senior officers and elected members on our modern committee system and our wider assurance framework. As an Assistant Director you will be a senior manager, ensuring that there are effective arrangements for core elements of governance and enabling the council to make the right decisions in line with our objectives and securing local democracy and a culture of openness and transparency. Additionally, you will be part of the senior leadership team of the General Counsel, playing a key role in fostering a culture of innovation, great governance, and continuous
improvement within the organisation.
For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Helen Sawbridge or Martin Tucker on 0121 592 2165.
