Job Details

Royal Greenwich is on the up! Having achieved a 3.8% increase in our recycling rate this year, we’re looking for someone who can help us reach the next level of success in our Waste, Street Cleansing and Enviro-crime services.

This is an exciting time to join us because the Royal Borough is at the early stages of developing a new waste strategy and procuring a portfolio of waste disposal contracts worth multi-million pounds per annum, and you will be at the sharp end of that work.

With an excellent knowledge and understanding of waste, street cleansing and enviro-crime legislation, you will have a proven track record of delivering successful projects, procurements and contract management outcomes.

As an experienced and effective leader, you will head a team procuring new contracts and lead the management and monitoring of existing contractual arrangements, to ensure the Council gets full value for money from all its contractors. Your excellent data interrogation skills, via the use of Microsoft Office products, are essential.

With a flexible outlook, you will be comfortable working on your own initiative to develop and adopt a new Waste Strategy for the Borough, ensuring it remains in line with the Council’s climate emergency agenda and legislation, to achieve its strategic environmental ambitions.

Benefits of working for us

As the home of the Prime Meridian, Greenwich Mean Time, the Unesco World Heritage Site, and the first new Royal Borough for more than 80 years, Royal Greenwich is a great place to live and work.

Benefiting from excellent transport links ranging from Crossrail to the Elizabeth line to the Uber boat, we’re one of the easiest boroughs to get to and navigate your way around.

Employee benefits include:

  • A range of flexible working arrangements
  • Excellent pension scheme
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Learning and development opportunities to maximise your potential, including excellent apprenticeship opportunities at all levels
