Cheshire East is a big borough with huge potential.  Home to 400,000 people – it is a place with fantastic assets, great connectivity and serious economic clout. With a new Leader, Deputy Leader, and Chief Executive in place, the council is embarking on a major reset to ensure its financial sustainability and protect essential services. There is an unwavering commitment from members, officers and improvement partners to develop an organisation that is fit for the future and can deliver on its ambitions for communities.

As our new Executive Director and statutory S151 officer, you will be responsible for strategic leadership and operational performance of the range of ‘core’ business enabling functions which underpin the delivery of Council services and responsibilities. These include Finance (including revenues and benefits, and procurement), People (including HR, OD, culture and customer experience) and Improvement (including engagement & communications, transformation, strategy policy & performance and digital).

You’ll be a driver of change and improvement across the council, delivering a clear road map for our new MTFS. We are looking for resilience, confidence and a proven track record of managing change and improvement programmes. You will thrive on the opportunity to play a critical role returning the council to a position of financial stability and operating as part of a committed new leadership team.
