This is an exciting opportunity for a  Merton's council’s Regeneration and Economy team to lead on programming and financial monitoring and reporting, working closely with colleagues to ensure the council’s resources are well managed. The Council has side aside +£10m for  activities around town centres, public realm, and delivery of the climate change agenda, in addition to government grants. You would also be involved in the resource management to support the delivery of the first new council homes in a generation.

We’re looking for someone with experience of financial systems and processes who would be interested in widening their skills and learning more about regeneration, town centres business support and climate projects. Training and guidance on the team's existing budget processes will be provided.

-The postholder will:

-Be actively involved in the work that the whole regeneration and economy team does to gain an understanding of the role and support budget monitoring and reporting.

 - Have substantial and demonstrable skills and experience on financial monitoring as part of a wider resource and programming agenda and in presenting complex information succinctly and in a manner that is easy to understand and follow. 

-Working with senior managers and across the team to lead on the financial monitoring for Regeneration and Economy Team

-Learn about and monitor budgets and resources for housing delivery, town centre and high street investment, urban design, planning policy, flood management and climate delivery.

-Help monitor spend from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) which has been allocated to neighbourhood projects and high street/town centre improvements.

-You will also have the opportunity to get involved in town centre activities and events in Mitcham and Morden town centres, e.g. car free day, Christmas events and events at Canons and Vestry Hall.
