The Role
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Employment & Skills, this is a leadership role, providing additional capacity at a senior level, helping us shape and grow the economy through the management and delivery of key services namely business engagement, markets, and town centre management.
You will play a leading role in developing key strategic relationships with local businesses and stakeholders; overseeing the efficient operation and development of the markets and street trading inspection service and the co-ordination of the town centre management function.
You will work collaboratively across services, with stakeholders and partners to ensure businesses have access to the full range of services required to help them start up, grow, relocate or to be retained in the Royal Borough.
You will lead and manage a team responsible for business and inward investment including a focus on key sectors important for economic growth as well as markets and the coordination of the Council’s approach to town centres.
About You
You will bring significant experience of managing business engagement, inward investment, business and enterprise services.
You will have excellent organisation and data skills, ensuring an evidence and outcome based approach.
You will have extensive knowledge across a range of disciplines including business support, procurement and social value, inward investment, markets, and street trading inspection, understanding how these contribute to economic growth and the Council priorities for job creation and alternative routes out of poverty through self-employment
