Collaborate with residents and colleagues on a wide portfolio of vital contracts and projects.

At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and businesses at the heart of everything we do, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. Committed to acting with openness, honesty, compassion and humility, we aim to listen and understand in a way that is respectful, encourages involvement and meets the needs of all our communities.

The Role:

Join us in this important, challenging role and you’ll be a key member of our Property Services team as you manage a portfolio of individual contracts and call off projects from our procured contractor and consultants frameworks. These sit within the current budget of around £50m (for the next three years) for the Capital, Cyclical and M&E works programmes.

From inception to final account, you’ll be responsible for between £5 – £15 million per year as you deliver building projects within the Council’s capital programme, and contribute to the development, management and monitoring of the projects, ensuring that delivery is on time, within budget and represents good value for money. The team prides itself on operating collaboratively with residents and being technical experts within their field. With a supportive, friendly culture and a motivating working environment, its members are committed to delivering great work and making a positive difference to the quality of peoples’ lives.

Please refer to the Job Description for information.

About You:

With a relevant professional qualification such as RICS/CIOB or equivalent working experience, and a project management qualification, you’ll have practical knowledge of contract management and procurement. It’s essential that you possess operational experience of carrying out major works schemes within public sector housing or a similar environment, an awareness of retrofitting and PAS 2035, and the ability to manage a minimum of £5 million per year.

You’ll be meeting with our residents and other stakeholders, receiving feedback about the work we’re doing and updating them on progress, so you’ll have inspirational communication skills, and the ability to interact and engage with tact and diplomacy. With experience of reviewing specifications and designs, and of challenging consultants and contractors, you’ll have the skills to produce feasibility reports and use your engagement and consultation skills to achieve your objectives.

Join us, and you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays. And as a key member of our team, you’ll also enjoy plenty of opportunities for development and progression within our organisation, the opportunity of flexible working including working from home and local retail discounts.
