Barnsley Council’s vision for 2030 highlights the borough as a place that fosters and grows ambition, enabling everyone to be the best they can be. A key component of this vision is ‘Growing Barnsley’, and we know that our borough is a great place to invest, where businesses and customers support an economy that benefits everyone. We have already delivered huge programmes such as the Glassworks which have transformed the town centre, and through our approved Local Plan we aim to create 22,000 jobs and build 28,000 homes by 2033.

We are currently seeking to appoint a new Service Director for Regeneration and Culture who will help to deliver our aspirations. Managing a wide array of services including regeneration, assets, housing, culture & visitor economy, planning and skills, this is great chance to work for the double award winning council of the year in 2023 and develop your career within a politically stable, supportive and high performing authority. Whilst Barnsley has already changed beyond all recognition (and challenged a lot of preconceptions along the way), we know there is yet more we can achieve as a team and with our partners across the borough, the wider Combined Authority and central government.
