As a key member of the Council’s Children’s Services Strategic Leadership Team, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of services for children, young people, and families across Gloucestershire.

Working with the broader Integrated Commissioning Directorate and in partnership with the Integrated Care Board (ICB), you will be responsible for developing and leading the Council’s strategic commissioning and partnership work to ensure effective, high-performing service delivery.

You will drive forward a collaborative model across health, children, and safeguarding partnerships, aiming to deliver the best possible outcomes for children, young people, and their families.

Leading a dynamic and committed team, you will be tasked with:

  • Contributing to the strategic leadership of the council as part of the Children’s Senior Leadership and Corporate Leadership Teams.
  • Leading on strategic planning for children's services, ensuring effective collaboration with partners and adherence to statutory obligations.
  • Delivering an integrated commissioning strategy that aligns with the Council's corporate priorities and ensures value for money.
  • Shaping and influencing service delivery to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and young people, including those in and leaving care.
  • Managing complex programmes and strategies to deliver council and partnership priorities and ensure efficient and effective delivery of services.

Candidates

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional with a proven track record of strategic leadership in sectors related to children's services, health, social care, or safeguarding. You will possess:

  • Extensive experience in strategic leadership and management, particularly in environments that drive positive outcomes for children and families.
  • Demonstrable skills in partnership working, including working collaboratively with parents, families, and partner agencies to shape and improve service provision.
  • A strong understanding of political environments and experience in managing and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • A successful track record in financial management and delivering value for money.
  • Experience in managing and leading complex programmes and projects to deliver strategic goals.
