An ambitious City – fancy a challenge?
Gloucester is a city steeped in history, but the Council is always looking forward and is looking for an ambitious individual to join our leadership team to help drive the next phase of our journey.
Gloucester City Council punches above its weight, delivering huge regeneration schemes to physically transform our city, whilst working alongside our communities to take a sector-leading, asset-based approach to tackling inequalities. We believe in working in partnership with others to make residents lives better, and treating everybody with fairness, compassion and respect We are as passionate about tackling climate change as we are about our beautiful city. But as an aspiring council, we always want to achieve more, and this is where you come in.
We are seeking an inspirational, creative and forward-thinking place-shaping leader to drive Gloucester’s ambitious regeneration programme. Gloucester is undergoing significant transformation with initiatives such as the levelling up-funded Kings Quarter scheme and the upcoming Greyfriars redevelopment. As the city progresses on its revitalisation journey, we are looking for a Head of Place to spearhead the next phase of this regeneration, overseeing projects from concept to completion.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director and working closely with the Leader of the Council, this high-profile role is pivotal in realising the council’s ambitions. Although a significantly outward-facing role, you will lead a multi-disciplinary department encompassing planning, economic development, heritage, and major capital works, as well as pulling together colleagues from around the Council to ensure a comprehensive and integrated approach to place shaping.
And you’ll be part of our Corporate Management Team, providing transformative leadership across the whole organisation. If you’re up for a challenge, we’d love to hear from you.
Closing date: 11th August
Interviews will be held on 28th August.
