Sheffield is a growing and ambitious city and one of the Country’s core cities. The city is diverse, not only in its culture, but also in its varied and unique geography. We are proud of our Steel City heritage and the work that has been done to bring many new commercial and independent businesses to the city. This is a city of change and a place that is brimming with creativity, personality, and community.
To build on this continuing change the City Transport Service is looking to recruit 3 Senior Engineers to its Transport Projects Team. We are looking for talented individuals who have good experience across the full range of transport project disciplines, who can use their ingenuity to develop concept solutions in often constrained highway situations where there are competing demands. There is a strong emphasis on active travel and improvements to public transport networks along with experience in more general traffic/road safety schemes.
Effective communication is fundamental to being able to develop infrastructure solutions that meet people’s needs and the ability to engage competently with clients, stakeholders and customers is essential. The ability to work in a political environment is also expected.
Sheffield is looking for people who are conversant with current design standards and can interpret them to produce innovative solutions. These solutions need to be developed with an understanding of the impacts our projects have on the environment and the climate.
The Transport Projects team utilises an external Detail Design and Construction partner through our Streets Ahead maintenance contract, so our emphasis is on developing concepts and preliminary designs. However, there is an ongoing assurance role throughout a project’s life to make certain that concepts are delivered appropriately, and that outputs are achieved.
If the above appeals to you and you meet the qualification requirement in the job description, then we want to hear from you!
