Newham Council is excited to announce the search for an innovative and strategic Director of Public Realm. This is a unique opportunity to lead and enhance the management of our public spaces, contributing significantly to our environmental and sustainability goals within one of London’s most vibrant boroughs.

As the Director of Public Realm, you will be responsible for a broad portfolio, including street cleansing, waste management, parks and green spaces, and fleet management. You will lead initiatives that ensure the public realm contributes effectively to the council’s broader strategies aimed at tackling the climate and health emergency and promoting community wealth building.

We are seeking a leader with a strong background in public and environmental services, who is knowledgeable about urban management and committed to innovative, sustainable practices. Your ability to manage diverse teams and complex projects will help us meet our strategic goals and improve the quality of life in Newham.

As the Director of Public Realm, you will champion innovative strategies for sustainable urban development, working to enhance the cleanliness, safety, and usability of Newham's public spaces. Leading a dedicated team, your role will be pivotal in transforming the borough's environment and public realm services, ensuring they meet the needs and expectations of the community.
