An exciting full-time opportunity exists to lead the Local Transport Team as part of the City Transport Service

 

What will I be doing?

 

As part of a friendly and enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team, you will take the lead for the Local Transport team overseeing Area Engineering, Liveable Neighbourhoods, Road Safety and Citywide Initiatives including e-mobility and the planned new Cycle Hub. This is a new team formed as part of a restructure from existing teams and presents an opportunity for a strong leader to shape the team and set its objectives in unison with the Head of Service and the new Bristol Committee.

 

You will provide direct support to the Head of Service in the delivery of the aims and objectives of the City Transport service. You will also take a lead in supervising and mentoring staff and developing the new team. This is a varied role that will be the key liaison between the Transport Service and local Councillors while also delivering local traffic projects and inputting into wider strategic projects and policies.

 

What do I need to have?

 

You will have significant experience in transport related roles in a local authority context.  Being able to communicate complex requirements to various stakeholders from junior team members to committee chairs is essential.

 

Experience of managing and delivering complex work programmes is a must and the postholder will be expected to manage and report on the whole of the Local Transport programme of works.

 

This is a new service made of existing teams with a number of new posts and vacancies to be filled. This will require good people skills and change management experience to develop and lead the team into an effective unit.
