About the role
We are looking for an experienced and talented professional to join North Northamptonshire Council as our Transport Strategy Manager. Sitting within the Highways service of our Place & Economy directorate, you will manage a team of transport planners and public transport and sustainable transport officers. You will be responsible for developing and implementing policies, strategies and developing a pipeline of investment schemes to enable the Council to meet its statutory responsibilities and aspirations for improving transport facilities while facing the challenge of a climate emergency.
What will you be doing?
You will lead the development of North Northamptonshire’s first Local Transport Plan, along with the implementation of that plan and our Bus Service Improvement Plan and Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans. You will also develop other initiatives and lead bids for external funding. You will provide expert transport advice to assist in the preparation of Local Plans and develop the highway and transport improvement schemes that will shape North Northamptonshire’s future.
About you
Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have significant transport planning and policy experience, particularly in the development of Local Transport Plans and public consultation, along with experience of Local Authority governance and working with members and committees. Knowledge of public transport and active travel will also be helpful. Experience of leading a team and partnership working and good project management skills are also required.
