We want someone to join our team of surveyors to provide senior leadership regarding the formulation of strategies for acquisitions, disposals, and asset management.  This role will focus on identifying and delivering on opportunities in our borough through disposal or acquisition for the benefit of the Council and the Community. This is a role that can help to deliver change.

The Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to advise the Council specifically on properties where there is an opportunity to exploit the value of the asset either through a disposal or acquisition for the benefit of the council resulting in revenue savings, or social and community outcomes. To ensure the Council’s property portfolio is utilised to the best possible advantage, maximising rental income, operational uses and optimising use in accordance with the Council’s policies and Council Plan.

You will develop and lead on internal & external stakeholder engagement, ensuring day to day operations are aligned with the Council’s Property Strategy, and support and provide senior leadership to the formulation of strategies for acquisitions and asset management, and to carry out the objectives of Capital Projects for services such as Housing Needs, Children’s and Adult and Social Care. You will also provide support to the Social Investment & Property senior management team in producing Asset Management Plans, Property Strategy and Capital Strategy through a robust programme of asset challenge and reviews.

About You:

We are looking for an energetic, experienced, and technically proficient Senior Property Surveyor to lead on the development of a strategic acquisitions and disposals programme for the Council, working with teams to identify and prioritise need. This will support our asset management strategy to deliver Council wide ambitions and objectives and maximise the Council’s property portfolio for the benefit of residents. 

You will know how to prepare feasibility appraisals, valuations reports, and model cash flows and be able to work to develop and deliver strategic solutions within public sector governance frameworks to provide social and economic value. With an in-depth knowledge of the UK planning system and required legislation, you’ll know how to negotiate legal and statutory documentation. Ideally, you will have a background in local government or the public sector. 

Strong communication skills are a priority in this role, and you’ll be self-motivated and confident to be able to work on your own initiative whilst being a part of a team of like-minded individuals.
