Kingston is a special place in South West London between the capital and the country and has been a Royal borough longer than anywhere else. Our reputation for excellence is the result of our commitment to fostering a future that is greener, fairer, and safer for everyone—residents, workers, and visitors alike.
Following the appointment of Sarah Ireland as our permanent Chief Executive and a realignment of our senior leadership team, this is an exciting and newly created role at a critical time for our Council and the sector.
This is an exciting and strategic role where you will be responsible for all resident and communities services. Every service that you lead will have community engagement and co-creation at its core, ultimately fostering a culture where our residents are at the very heart of everything that we do.
Your service remit in this role will be broad, and will include: Climate Change, Community Development & Hubs, Parks & Green Spaces, Waste & Street Cleansing, Community Safety, Customer Services, Culture & Libraries, Leisure and Sports Development, Neighbourhoods and more.
We are not looking for a specialist in any one of these areas, although having brought these services together, we will look to you to create the vision and strategy across all your teams that lead to the fulfilment of our vision.
This role is all about collaboration, whether that’s with fellow members of the Senior Leadership Team, colleagues across the Council, those with which we share services or partners within the system. Your leadership will ensure that we deliver more by working together.
About you
We are looking for an energetic and dynamic leader who is passionate about community engagement and who will not stop until the voices of our residents runs through all that we do. You will have a track record of developing strong and effective partnerships with community groups and the voluntary sector to deliver the outcomes you seek for residents.
You will have demonstrable experience of setting the strategic and operational vision for a broad range of services.
