We want Coventry to be the best place in the UK for children and young people to live and grow up in. Our ‘Child Friendly Cov’ campaign aims to make Coventry a city where children and young people should always feel and be valued; have opportunities; feel and be safe; and be healthy.
This role is all about keeping the City Council’s end of that promise. You’ll oversee the full range of responsibilities, including fostering and safeguarding, early years, SEND, corporate parenting and family support, as well as working closely with the education system across the city. It’s a complex job, but we’re committed to the highest standards of provision, the team you’ll be leading is high-performing, and you’ll have the support of elected members and senior colleagues.
Candidates may come from either social work or education, but you must bring extensive and nuanced knowledge across both disciplines. Energetic, astute and with a track record of delivery, you’ll have an inspiring leadership style and strong professional networks. Innovative, resilient and driven by a hunger for better, you’ll be able to lead and manage in every setting for which you’re responsible. With partners, you’ll be a valued, reflective yet influential contributor, and the first port of call for good ideas.
