Full Time
Via currently has a fantastic opportunity to join our Senior Leadership Team in the newly created role of Highways Maintenance Director.
The successful candidate will lead the development and delivery of all strategic and operational highways maintenance activity across all highway’s assets within Nottinghamshire on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council.
The Job:
- You will lead the ongoing development of the highways maintenance operating model, working with Nottinghamshire County Council (‘NCC’ or ‘the Client’) to target and plan funding and resources so that the life of all highway assets is prioritised and maximised effectively.
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with internal / external stakeholders maintaining an awareness of both internal and external factors which impact the business.
- Work collaboratively and closely with the Operations Director ensuring that delivery of operational maintenance activity is handed over and delivered seamlessly, and in accordance with client expectations.
- Lead a multi-disciplinary teams of highway experts, coaching, supporting and developing them to deliver a high quality, fit for purpose service to their stakeholders and customers.
- Be accountable for all enquiry and reporting processes across the Highways service, including all statutory reporting and member led enquiries.
The Successful Applicant
We are looking for a positive, motivated, and passionate leader to drive the Highways Maintenance function forward.
We need someone who wants to be part of the senior leadership team and embrace the opportunity to shape the Via.
You will have:
- Degree level qualification in Engineering with significant Post Qualification or relevant highways asset management experience.
- Proven experience of managing multi-disciplined teams, leading and influencing them to foster good working relationships to meet the desired outcomes and objectives of the business.
- Proven experience of development and delivery of effective highways maintenance strategies / plans, underpinned by robust governance arrangements.
- Proven experience of working within or for local government, with a track record of being able to effectively navigate competing priorities within a complex political landscape.
- Excellent networking skills, with a strong external profile, demonstrating an in depth understanding of the wider political arena.
- Proven track record of effectively leading teams through complex, large scale change programmes.
