The Deputy Town Clerk is responsible for ensuring that the overall strategic direction of the organisation is actively pursued. The role oversees the co-ordination of political and policy advice to the City of London’s Leaders and Members as well as the City of London Police Authority, civic leadership, communications, external affairs, strategic planning, governance and Member and democratic services ensuring cohesion across these areas. Given the stature of this role, the postholder will be expected to undertake extensive external speaking engagements and attend a significant number of functions hosted or supported by the City of London Corporation.

We’re looking for an exceptionally talented individual who will embody the change and transformation ahead, leading the teams providing the key interfaces with Members and our wider agenda: strategy, communications, private office, police authority support, policy and committee services. We aspire to be exemplars at this historic time for the City of London Corporation, leaving a lasting legacy for a centuries-old organisation and the City it serves.

Assessment Centres are expected to take place week commencing 12 September 2022 and interviews are expected to take place on 22 September 2022 at the Guildhall in the City of London.
