Charnwood in Leicestershire lies at the very heart of one of the most exciting, dynamic and well-connected economies in the UK. However, our economy is changing and increasingly diversifying, leveraging the incredible research that flows from the world class Loughborough University and our science and technology related industries. Charnwood also has a wide ranging portfolio of physical, cultural and social assets, with many of the levers of sustainable and inclusive growth at our disposal.

Our major town is Loughborough where there are exciting development and regeneration opportunities which will help create high-quality jobs and ensure continued economic prosperity.

Those opportunities include Loughborough Town Deal which has secured £16.9m from the Towns Fund and is currently backing 11 projects worth over £40 million of investment. Charnwood has also been awarded over £4 million from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and an investment plan is being developed.

We are also just completing a major public realm regeneration project in Loughborough town centre and have another significant scheme in the pipeline for one of our larger market towns.

As a council we have ambitious plans and are looking for a creative and inspirational leader with the ability and the skills to translate vision and strategy into reality. Charnwood provides an exciting professional landscape in which to work and there has never been a better or more exciting time to join us in what is a pivotal role to drive economic growth and prosperity across the borough.

To capture the potential that Charnwood offers we wish to appoint a talented, innovative, driven and commercially minded individual who will help us to maximise the assets and potential that we have.

Working with our senior leadership team and elected members, as our Head of Economic Development and Regeneration you will play a key role in meeting challenges creatively and pioneering opportunities for investment, growth and regeneration. You will also work collaboratively with other stakeholders and partners to support economic growth and prosperity across the borough.

If you have the leaderships skills, gravitas and ability to manage complex relationships - together with a demonstrable track record of delivering results in one or more relevant fields including regeneration, economic growth, policy and strategy and are educated to degree level, or equivalent experience working at a senior management level, we would welcome an application from you.
