Take the lead in enhancing fire safety across our non-residential properties

In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and local businesses at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. We are committed to embedding lessons learnt and are significantly enhancing fire and building safety standards ahead of new legislation - not only in the residential sector but also across our public and commercial property portfolio.

The Role:

This is a high-profile role providing enhanced measurement, monitoring and support for fire safety in non-residential, council-owned properties. A key point of contact for corporate clients, you’ll provide technical fire safety advice in relation to both new-build and refurbishment works. You will also ensure consistent and robust fire risk management systems are implemented, audited and improved across the Council.  As well as writing guidance and policy, you will deliver fire safety training and, where appropriate, emergency exercises and fire drills. This is more than a technical role, however: you’ll be part of a team tasked with winning back trust and assuring local businesses and communities that safety is being managed effectively.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

An established fire safety professional, you’re likely to have a corporate or commercial background. Specifically, you’ll have experience of implementing fire risk management systems and carrying out fire risk assessment across a large multi-site portfolio. Experienced in risk assessment, management and mitigation, you’ll also be an experienced problem-solver with a pragmatic approach. Highly customer focused, with a good understanding of commercial environments, you’ll have strong communication skills, including the ability to influence others and negotiate at all levels. A Level 4/5 fire safety qualification (such as the CFPA-E Adv Dip) is essential.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.

Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. CV’s alone will not be considered for this role.
