As the birthplace of Co-operation, Rochdale is a borough where there is a genuine and long-established commitment to working together to improve the lives of our local people. We are proud to be the place where the global cooperative movement began. The bold dynamic spirit demonstrated by those original pioneers can still be seen throughout our borough.

We are committed to place based commissioning, focussed on achieving improved outcomes for the whole of the population through creating the mechanisms and supports that will enable integrated health and care to flourish within the wide range of community assets and resources available

We are currently seeking an Assistant Director Commissioning (ASC and Prevention) who will work closely with Director of Strategic Commissioning (DASS), Assistant Director Operations and the Local Care Organisation to develop and implement strategic and operational commissioning arrangements for Adult Social Care. We are looking for someone who can bring a high level of creativity, energy and enthusiasm and be unwavering in pursuit of our ambitious goals for health and social care improvement.  We require an individual who is unfazed by the challenges of recovery from the covid pandemic, who is passionate about reducing inequalities and really wants to make a difference to the lives of local people and our staff teams.  You will be fundamental to ensuring that working age and older adults in the borough of Rochdale receive the best quality care, working with providers to support continuous improvement and service excellence to deliver improved and personalised outcomes for our residents.

Our vision is to make the borough of Rochdale an even better place grow up, get on and live well and work in, through our strategic priorities of People, Place and Prosperity. As part of Greater Manchester, we are also at the forefront of the leading-edge devolution agenda, which is driving forward integration across health and social care.

Across the borough, we already have joint structures and strong relationships in place between the council and NHS; the council’s chief executive is the accountable officer for the CCG, and we have a joint Integrated Commissioning Board, which is made up of CCG Governing Body and council cabinet members.   Our integrated approaches will continue to evolve as new legislation and the Adult Social Care White paper (People at the Heart of Care) comes into force throughout 2022 and beyond. This role is a great opportunity to lead our exciting integration journey to the next level as we build on our solid foundations and many success stories.

We have achieved so much, but there is still much to do. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within an integrated senior team, with colleagues across health and care commissioning to ensure a whole system approach and a culture of engaging and involving service users and providers in delivering high quality services for our residents.

You will be will be responsible for a number of key strategic partnerships, the development of new effective partnership and delivery models and the engagement of the public and patients in commissioning and co-production. They will lead and participate in work programmes at differing commissioning levels including Greater Manchester, locality as well as regionally and nationally as required.

We are growing all the time. Our multi-million pound regeneration programme has transformed Rochdale town centre, with many more pioneering projects to follow. Our state-of-the art Riverside development has seen a new shopping centre, cinema, restaurants and much more. In addition, the borough is the greenest in Greater Manchester, with stunning countryside right on our doorstep.

If you have the passion, drive and commitment and vision to take us to the next level, we would love to hear from. This is an exciting time to be joining us and a great opportunity to join us on the continued journey of delivering award-winning services for our residents.
