We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to lead one of our Highways Network Management groups based at County Hall, Hertford. The post holder will be responsible for delivering the authorities duties and responsibilities under the Traffic Management Act and licencing and enforcement under the Highways Act.

Leading and developing a small team to achieve the above, the postholder will find themselves in an exciting and dynamic environment, where they have an opportunity to make a tangible difference to the management of the highway network in Hertfordshire, especially at this time as our two main contracts that deliver part of the service come to an end in 2024.

This role will appeal to you if you thrive on managing multiple projects and stakeholders, have a proven ability to manage and direct complex activity, and can confidently, clearly and effectively communicate to a wide range of stakeholders.

With a full clean driving licence to enable you to visit works sites and attend regional meetings, you will have the ability to engage staff across a range of highway and transportation services, you will be a skilled team leader with an ability to deal with a range of often complex enforcement and network management issues. You will have a thorough knowledge of highway legislation and strong political awareness with an ability to influence and negotiate with Senior Managers and members.
