Overview

Do you have considerable knowledge and experience of safeguarding as well as a passion for protecting and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults and children?

Buckinghamshire Safeguarding Partnership (BSCP and BSAB) is seeking a highly effective and experienced Independent Chair who can build on the foundations which have been laid to date. 

Recognising the benefits of an integrated approach, we are seeking to re-recruit a joint Independent Chair for both Boards.

About the role

The Chair will provide the independent leadership and strategic vision for the Partnership as well as robust scrutiny holding partners to account to ensure the best outcomes for children, vulnerable adults and our communities.

You should have relevant professional experience in leadership roles in identified sectors (but not limited to) Health & Social care, Criminal Justice, Education, Police, Probation, Voluntary or Academic sectors .You should be able to work collaboratively, influence others and possess both excellent communication and negotiation skills. 

The Independent Chair will represent and promote the reputation and work of the Partnership at both a regional and national level and so should be an effective communicator which on occasion will include contact with members of the public and the media.

About you

You should be able to demonstrate evidence of leadership experience at a senior level including across multi-agency partnership settings.

The successful candidate should also possess a good operational and strategic understanding of the safeguarding agenda for children and adults at risk of abuse or neglect.

If you are an experienced senior leader with an in-depth knowledge of safeguarding children and adults, a clear commitment to drive both the scrutiny and promoting best practice functions of the Partnership to drive the safeguarding agenda and improve outcomes for those at risk of abuse and/or neglect, then we would like to hear from you.

The successful candidate will need to commit up to a maximum of 50 days per year (some flexibility for additional days by prior agreement up to 60 days ). Payment will be circa £600.00 per day with additional mileage and accommodation with prior agreement.

This appointment is made initially on a 2 year basis, with an option to extend subject to agreement Children and Adult Services Directors.

Buckinghamshire has embraced virtual working in order to maximise capacity however also uses a hybrid model where appropriate with some face-to-face meetings being reintroduced.
