Assistant Director (Strategic Infrastructure)

Employer
Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council
Location
Calderdale, West Yorkshire
Salary
£92,577
Closing date
24 May 2022

Set in the beautiful surroundings of the South Pennines in West Yorkshire, Calderdale is a vibrant metropolitan borough, an active part of Leeds City Region, with strong market towns and amazing heritage assets. We have developed a vision for 2024, 50 years since we were formed as a local authority and we are confident of our future place within West Yorkshire.

This is a pivotal role, supporting the Director of Regeneration and Strategy to drive services forward. The role ensures the strategic delivery of our engineering, transportation, highways and flood remediation programmes.

The postholder will be responsible for developing and leading Calderdale’s Transportation Planning and growth ambition and will maintain and improve our already excellent transport links with both Leeds and Manchester City Regions.

We are acutely aware of the effects of climate change and we are committed to working with partners to do more to combat the effects of this through natural flood management, attenuation, remediation and carbon reduction.

The role involves leading a number of complex multi-disciplinary teams who are involved in the delivery of the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement and other major capital investment programmes. The postholder will actively oversee this work by utilising appropriate project management tools, risk management techniques, milestones, and ensuring financial reporting takes place to a high standard.

This is a challenging role, where you will have the opportunity to develop yourself and others, establishing and maintaining strong, positive relationships with colleagues, elected Councillors and partners across all service areas. You will contribute to a conscientious culture of proactive, future-focused service delivery, engaging our customers and modelling accountability.

Applications will be considered from proven leaders who can demonstrate successful track record of working in this field as well as developing local partnerships. Sound financial management and a relevant Degree is essential.
