Make the connection.

Project management is a, about connections, between colleagues, contractors and, most importantly, end users. This diverse Project Manager role comes with immediate responsibility for the design and implementation of a package of transport schemes with other projects already in the pipeline and ready for delivery. It’s work that’ll grow your skills exponentially.

The role

We’re looking for someone who can quickly take control of a caseload of schemes ready for delivery, build strong relationships with our partners across the county, and ensure everything’s delivered within the agreed timescales and budget. As someone with a unique insight into our projects, you will also contribute to our wider strategies and business plans.

The team

Our strategic and collaborative Major Projects and Growth Team delivers vital transport, infrastructure and economic growth improvements. Current projects include work on Hastings and Eastbourne town centres, major transport infrastructure improvements to support housing and economic growth in South Wealden and along the A259 coastal corridor, and £70m of county-wide transport and economic infrastructure improvements.

About you

Ideally a certified project management professional with a passion for our work, you’ll have experience of delivering large-scale projects. Whether you come from the public or private sector, it’s important that you bring a solid understanding of transport planning techniques and project management processes.

We recognise the benefits of supporting our staff to work flexibly and there are a range of ways in which service delivery and personal commitments can be balanced. We offer staff the opportunity to work in a hybrid way where the nature of their job role makes this possible and in a culture that places value on outputs that drive forward our strategic objectives and benefits our residents. However we also recognise the importance of always retaining a strong sense of belonging and team identity Additional benefits include a generous annual leave allowance, access to the Local Government Pension scheme, travel discounts, and more. But it’s the chance to create lasting connections across East Sussex you’ll find most attractive here, whilst being part of an excellent and rewarding team that is directly at the heart of driving sustainable economic growth, improving transport connectivity in the county and achieving net zero carbon emissions.

We make diversity, equity, and inclusion part of everything we do – our projects, our strategies and our workforce. It’s the only way to ensure our county gets the connections it needs and deserves.
