Can you bring experience, transformational leadership and commitment to our new Place Services?   Are you innovative and ambitious, with the background and professional knowledge to bring inspired leadership, pace, energy, excellent management skills and sector-leading solutions to the big challenges we face?  If so, then this role could be for you.

The Falkirk Council area continues to transform and is one of the fastest growing areas in Scotland. In the wake of Covid, we need to focus on economic recovery, delivering the innovative Falkirk Growth Deal, planning and placemaking, service transformation and the challenges of climate change as well as the delivery of excellent services to our citizens and communities. These are all crucial to Falkirk’s future.

We now have an opportunity for a Head of Growth, Planning & Climate role within our Place Services.  As an experienced senior manager with extensive leadership experience in a complex multifunctional organisation, you will provide strategic direction, leadership and effective management of teams within the Council’s Growth, Planning & Climate Services.

You will be an experienced professional who will complement our Place Services management team, supporting continuous improvement, new ways of working, excellence and efficiency in all we deliver.

As a candidate, you will excel in managing complex and strategic issues and have a successful track record in leading and managing change.  You will have financial and risk management experience in a relevant environment and have a working knowledge of the functions within the remit of this post.  A commitment to ongoing further professional development would also be expected.

Just a 30 minute drive from Edinburgh and Glasgow, Falkirk is ideally situated in the very heart of Scotland.  As an employer of choice, we offer flexible benefits and working arrangements, along with a culture which is committed to learning, improving and growing.

We are committed to building on our existing strong working practices, using local partnerships and making sure our citizens are at the heart of everything we do.  If this challenge is something you can deliver on, we’d be interested to hear from you.
