Corporate Director of Children’s Services

Employer
Islington London Borough Council
Location
Islington, London (Greater)
Salary
Competitive Salary
Closing date
15 Nov 2021

We want our new Corporate Director of Children’s Services to make Islington the best place for children and young people to grow up.

As the statutory Director and member of the corporate management team, you will lead on cross cutting issues along with children’s social care, youth justice, youth services, education, SEND, libraries and culture. You will share leadership of our early intervention and prevention offer with the Fairer Together directorate and the Community Wealth Building directorate for the skills agenda.

There are challenges for you to address. Islington is now the most deprived London authority for children, but is also a place of great wealth.  Covid has exposed and exacerbated some of these inequalities with higher rates of children in need of help and protection.

There are however, great strengths to build on. Ofsted have recently judged our children’s social care and early help services as outstanding. You will have a committed and talented team. Members are committed and knowledgeable advocates for our children and young people, protecting core funding and investment.

We are looking to appoint a visible leader where Collaboration, Ambition, Resourcefulness and Empowerment are our “Be Islington” core values.

If you think you can drive strategy and change, whilst leading and managing exceptional operational services, then we look forward to receiving your application.
