 Working with the London Fire Commissioner and Directors, the Director of Corporate Services will ensure that the London Fire Brigade is trusted to serve and protect London. The post holder will deliver this by ensuring the Brigade is a dynamic, forward-looking organisation of fully engaged people at the centre of the communities we serve, adapting to the needs of London.

About the Role

As a member of the Commissioner’s Board and the Fire and Resilience Board, the Director of Corporate Services will play a full leadership role and be responsible for planning, directing and delivering the Directorate’s services along with managing the Brigade’s financial and physical assets and infrastructure.  You will provide inclusive and corporate leadership of approximately 370 staff across five departments which include, Finance, Property, Technical and Commercial, Governance and Information and Communication Technology functions ensuring continual improvement in efficiency, performance and compliance with regulations and the law.  A key element of this position will be to maintain robust effective systems, processes whilst providing strategic and operational direction to ensure the Directorate’s resources are deployed and controlled effectively.  You will play a key role in strengthening the corporate function and have the breadth of expertise and agility to maintain a focus on nurturing relationships with the Deputy Mayor/GLA, London Councils, LGA, Home Office etc.

About You

The ideal candidate will bring substantial corporate leadership expertise and have proven experience as a Chief Finance Officer and be appropriately qualified to carry out the duties of a statutory finance officer as defined under S127 of the GLA Act.  You must evidence a strong track record in developing and implementing complex strategies, business plans, managing budgets and have experience of leading systems/process improvement.  You will be a true champion of diversity and equality of opportunity for all our staff and ensure you role model the Brigade’s Leadership Behavioural Framework of Accountability, Compassion and Togetherness helping to embed a culture where every member of staff feels respected. Politically astute, you will be a sophisticated communicator with the capacity to influence and work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels, within and outside the brigade.
