You will be supported by our friendly experienced team primarily based in our main office at Morpeth County Hall. 


The role: 

The Improvement & Innovation directorate works at the heart of the Council, driving change organisation-wide, to deliver better outcomes and better value for money for residents.  

As Head of Review & Improvement, you will be at the forefront of making that change happen. The Service Review team is a recently formed team with a remit to drive significant improvements and deliver on high profile Cabinet priorities for the Council. As the team is newly formed, you will have significant scope to shape and build the culture and approach for the service going forward. 

Given the profile of the service review programme, you will operate at a senior level within the Council. In practice this means direct engagement with the Chief Executive, Directors and leading Members, advising them on service improvement and change. 

You will report to the Service Director for Improvement and Innovation and line manage the Service Review team. As Head of Service Review, you will lead the design and delivery of a transformative and fast paced review programme which addresses key priorities and builds a culture of innovation and improvement within the Council. You will provide specialist capability, strategic direction and positive leadership for the Council’s improvement agenda. You will be influential in shaping the future direction of the Council, supporting and challenging colleague performance.  

The salary for this permanent post is Band 13 (£61,910 - £65,287), with normal hours of work of 37 per week.

You will have a demonstrable track record of successfully leading change at scale and managing multi-disciplinary teams. You will draw on recent experience and achievement at a senior management level within an organisation of comparable scope and complexity.
