Enfield Council is an exciting, forward thinking authority which is driven by excellence. This is more than a Director of Finance role - it is an opportunity to review and reshape a service. To support change which will impact the whole authority.
This role is part of a large recruitment campaign across Enfield Council as it seeks to appoint new members of staff in key positions. If you have the drive and ambition, you could be part of a significant change cycle.
The Role
As Deputy S151 you will report to the Executive Director for Resources, you will be a senior member of the Resources Directorate leadership team and will primarily be responsible for overseeing the corporate team.
A key component of this role will be to support the council in financially challenging times ensuring that the statutory requirements of the council are being fulfilled and that there is strong governance in place.
A few areas of focus for an incoming Director of Finance will include:-
- Reshaping the council’s corporate finance team, by reviewing the existing team and structure, evaluating areas for improvement and creating a plan for the future.
- Managing ever tightening budgets in local government - ensuring the council’s finances are well managed with residents receiving value for money.
- Horizon scanning for potential opportunities to save money and generate income will be expected.
Candidates
This role requires an exceptional candidate with local government Corporate Finance experience ideally who understands how to transform a service.
While reporting to the Director of Resources you will be working closely with the new Director of Finance (Regeneration, Capital) so a strong collaborative nature to build relationships with colleagues and being supportive of their remit will be important.
A passion for finance and making a difference will be required for success.
