Creating a lifetime of opportunity for our residents

This is an exciting opportunity to join Enfield and support vulnerable children young people and their families to achieve the best possible outcomes. You will need to be committed to delivering high standards across Children and Family Services working with colleagues and partners to make a positive difference to the lives of children and young people with SEND and their families.

The Joint Service for Disabled Children (JSDC) is an important partnership which works with the Our Voice parent forum and other voluntary organisations to support and promote opportunities for disabled children and their families. It includes specialist social work teams, the early intervention support service and Cheviots children’s disability service.

Staff are trained to deliver the positive behaviour support programme. The Early Intervention Support Service (EISS) is part of the JSDC and includes teachers, early years practitioners, and dedicated key workers.

The Cheviots centre is operational 7 days a week, it’s social workers and centre workers play a part in assessing children and providing support and services to families. Short breaks provide disabled children and young people with an opportunity to spend time away from their parents, relax with friends and have fun. They also provide families with a break from their caring responsibilities.

As a senior officer in a specialist service the Head of the JSDC will be expected to exercise significant autonomy with regular contact with Members, Executive Director of People Services and other senior colleagues, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of all functions that come within the remit of the role.

Our diverse borough and tapestry of providers has enormous potential to inform new perspectives and fresh approaches to service development. The Head of the Joint Service for Disabled Children will be expected to have an innovative and engaging approach, forging strong partnerships across the borough, to drive up aspiration, ambition and successful outcomes for disabled children and young people.

If you are a qualified social worker with strong knowledge and experience of the major issues facing children and young people with disabilities and their families together with a true understanding of safeguarding complexities and the SEND agenda then we would love to hear from you.

You will be joining a supportive team with a strong culture and ethos as champions for the young people and families we serve.
