Reading is a place where your talent and expertise can make a real difference. You’ll be part of a team that shares a clarity of purpose and consistency of focus, operating in a vibrant and growing Berkshire borough. Reading has the fastest economic growth outside London, a respected university, and is ranked in the UK’s top areas for wellbeing. Through our Team Reading values we want to ensure that our growing and diverse population all share in that success.

As Service Lead for Public Health in Reading you will lead on improving the health and wellbeing of residents in line with the Council’s vision, goals and objectives, helping us to meet the challenges associated with the Covid 19 pandemic, whilst delivering our vision for a healthy Reading, reducing inequalities in health outcomes, preventing avoidable ill-health and protecting local communities from public health hazards.

You will also be working as a key part of the innovative Berkshire West Public Health arrangement, a unique opportunity to work with colleagues in neighbouring authorities across Berkshire West, whilst providing local public health leadership in Reading.
