Service Director: Culture & Wellbeing

Employer
City of Edinburgh Council
Location
Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh
Salary
£111,265
Closing date

Make no mistake, Edinburgh is in the global spotlight when it comes to arts and culture. Our events attract performers and audiences from all over the world, and our success has helped to fuel a thriving local creative scene. All of which identifies this as one of the most exciting cultural leadership roles in the country.

But it’s about more than this. The Council has identified Wellbeing as one its main corporate priorities and this role will lead on this agenda, bringing libraries, sport and leisure and community empowerment into its portfolio of responsibilities.

Success in the role will require you to make strategic connections – seeing the links between culture, sport and leisure, community engagement and wellbeing, as well as recognising the economic importance of these valuable attributes in the city’s unique profile. And you’ll ensure that our services connect to our community, so that all have access to new experiences and that Edinburgh’s cultural and wellbeing offer is relevant to all. With a proven ability to translate strategic aspirations into action on the ground you’ll ensure that great ideas lead to great outcomes.

It’s an opportunity that will see you represent the city in many different arenas, promoting our offer and celebrating what we do well. And you’ll bring an expansive breadth of perspective to the role, recognising that creativity never stand still, and demonstrating a desire to measure ourselves against other world cities.

If you are a highly capable and ambitious cultural leader, Edinburgh could be the ideal stage for your talents.
