Welcome to Manchester: a global city that is renowned for its diversity, creativity and strong sense of identity. Our vision is of a thriving Manchester for all our people and businesses, where everyone has access to a high quality, safe and secure home.

Following an overwhelming endorsement by 92% of residents, Northwards’ 13,000 properties will return to direct City Council management in July 2021 and as Director of Housing Operations you can play a lead role in managing this transition. It’s an ideal opportunity to create better connections between local provision and the city-wide strategic context, supporting a more cohesive strategic approach to homelessness and housing management.

Key priorities will be embedding a new, positive culture within Housing Operations and establishing the service within the Council, using the opportunity to forge new strategic connections and relationships, delivering significantly improved housing services, overseeing delivery of our ambitious housing Capital Programme, delivering on a future focused digital agenda and overseeing our homelessness agenda. You’ll bring a keen focus to the quality of Housing Operations to council housing in North Manchester and oversee the Homelessness Service across the city.

We expect that you will bring proven and accomplished housing management experience, that is enhanced by a highly developed political awareness. You’ll already have led housing services within an inner-city environment and considerable experience of meaningful engagement with tenants. We’ll want to hear about your experience of transforming service provision in a complex organisation, and how you affected both cultural and operational change. It’s important that you have the influencing, partnering and relationship skills to build successful alliances and help to shape opinions and outcomes at a strategic level.
