Be Bold, Be Birmingham
In Birmingham, we have a vision to become a ‘Council of the Future’. We’re on an exciting journey of growth and change, and we want every child, citizen and place to take part. Our agenda will see huge innovation across jobs, skills, health, wellbeing, transportation and connectivity. And housing is a vital part of our plans. We’re looking for an inspirational assistant director of housing development who can rapidly transform our offering and create a sustainable, 21st century service that matches our wider vision. Join us, share in our ambition, and take your career to new levels.
This is a wide-ranging role with big opportunities to shape our housing programme and vastly improve our residents’ lives. Reporting to our Director, Inclusive Growth, you’ll take our strategic vision and make it a reality, creating practical plans and seeing them through to completion. As you drive housing growth through bespoke delivery models, you’ll develop innovative partnerships with other housing providers and find new ways to effectively manage and expand our diverse portfolio. You’ll also be our lead officer on complex housing projects.
As a key leader for our council you’ll also provide strong leadership and management across the organisation, building an environment where people can flourish. You’ll empower managers and staff to reach ever-higher standards and take part in a culture of accountability and shared responsibility.
We’re looking for proven leaders with considerable experience in a similar environment. You’ll have led successful programmes of transformational change and be able to put a deep knowledge of housing strategy into practice. You’ll be able to manage large budgets, build and motivate effective teams, form productive partnerships and work with every kind of person to get results.
You should also have a degree in a relevant subject, along with a RTPI or RICS qualification or equivalent.
This is a truly unique role with scope to bring lasting change to a dynamic and exciting city. If you want real challenges that will maximise your potential, then get in touch.
