Our vision at Kirklees is to create a district with a strong, sustainable economy that offers a great quality of life for all residents, leading to thriving communities, growing businesses, high prosperity and low inequality. Kirklees is proud of it’s diverse communities but COVID-19 has brought inequalities in our communities to the fore.
Tackling the inequalities that exist in Kirklees will be the most important thing we do to help us recover from the pandemic and achieve our long-term ambitions. We are committed to tackle racism and inequalities in our communities and to make systemic and institutional changes that will benefit communities for generations to come. We cannot miss this opportunity to improve lives and leave a legacy of inclusion in Kirklees. In Kirklees we’re serious about tackling inequalities and are currently establishing a member led Kirklees Inclusion Commission to develop our actions and clear commitments in the short and long term to improve equality.
As Head of Inclusion you will be at the heart of the Council’s drive to tackle inequalities. You will play a key role in supporting the work of our Kirklees Inclusion Commission, engaging with our communities and co-producing solutions to embed long-term and sustainable change.
We’re looking for a senior leader who shares our commitment to reducing inequalities and has the passion, drive, tenacity and credibility to make change happen, working with our communities, workforce, elected members and senior leaders in the council and across our partnerships. Comfortable working in and navigating a political environment and someone who knows how to influence and when to challenge, you’ll have a background in similar work and importantly will understand Kirklees as a place and our diverse communities.
Your behaviours and style are just as important to us as the experience you bring. Inclusion, kindness and pride have shone through during the pandemic and are at the heart of our Council Plan.
If you share our commitment and think you’ve got what it takes, apply now.
