The Staff College is a not-for-profit company, supporting Children’s Services leaders for over 20 years. We develop nationally regarded programmes and resources for those in the sector with the core aim of developing excellent leadership and management by all those working to improve children’s outcomes. We provide direct delivery of development programmes, resources, workshops, face to face and online learning and technical support to front line leaders through to Directors. The College enables participants to develop in reflective and supportive learning spaces, sharing best practice and establishing cadres of leaders throughout England and Scotland. We provide the national leadership and management programmes such as ‘Upon’ for Aspiring and New Directors of Children’s Services, our renowned Black and Asian Leadership Initiative programme, regional and bespoke support as well as research, insight and thought leadership, partnering with other organisations where appropriate.

Following a sustained period of consolidation and growth, we are seeking to appoint a new Chief Executive. The successful person will continue the excellent work that we do, building on our excellent reputation and supporting the continuous development of new initiatives and a new strategic plan. Whilst closely aligned to the local government sector, we are agile, developing dialogue and partnerships with all those that have an impact on the lives of children and young people such as schools and academies, health organisations, the voluntary sector and justice. It is a role that is both strategic and operational, looking forwards and scanning the horizon, contributing to innovation in the sector and ensuring the College maintains its high quality and relevance.

We are seeking a leader in children’s services who has the vision to continue the development of the company, be a thought leader in the sector whilst also having a keen eye for excellence in delivery and impact. We are open minded about professional discipline; however, we are uncompromising in the requirement that the successful candidate has an absolute passion to develop leaders in the sector who are equipped to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people in our communities.
