Shaping our city, driving growth and delivering on what matters to our local people and communities are at the centre of the plan. Like other places, Belfast has many challenges to face but the opportunity for us to make a difference to local communities and to lead city growth has never been greater. We have achieved notable successes in recent years with multi- £billion investment in regeneration programmes across the city. At this incredibly important juncture for Belfast, as the City looks to the future after the Covid19 Pandemic, we are poised for further growth and success as we look to support, recover and revitalise our city. As Director of Planning and Building Control you will play a critical and catalysing role in the transformation of the physical and social fabric of Belfast.

Much work has taken place in recent years to create a Planning and Building Control directorate that is forward thinking and outward looking - seen as an enabler by the investment and development communities. Your role will be to build on this work, bringing creativity and a focus on delivery that will ensure effective service delivery on the ground and that leverages the city’s position, ensuring a city that is fit for all our communities and one where stakeholders thrive and prosper. This is a high profile and highly visible role and you will be the principal planning official in the City. We are looking for an innovative and passionate individual, excited by the opportunity to work in one of the most exciting, dynamic and complex social and economic landscapes in the UK.

We require a highly skilled professional, with significant experience of the planning system,who is commercially astute, a strategic, agile thinker and who will bring vision and innovation to the development and growth of our City.
