Assistant Director, Economy & Development
Extraordinary, energetic and enterprising. Bradford is modern Britain at its best.
We have huge ambition for Bradford. Our district is bold, outward-looking and globally connected. We celebrate our rich heritage whilst looking forward to the future as a modern, well-connected and innovative place. According to Barclays, Bradford is the best place to start a high growth business in the UK and, as home to the youngest city in the UK, we are digital natives with a global reach.
We have already achieved an incredible amount and the district is home to a number of assets, such as the multi award-winning and internationally renowned City Park and the 570,000 sq ft Broadway shopping centre. Whilst we’re already feeling confident, we now seek a strong leader that will build on this culture of achievement and excellence to deliver even stronger outcomes.
Over the last few years, we’ve developed a strong pipeline of programmes and projects across infrastructure, transport and regeneration. As Assistant Director, you will be key to delivering the Council’s ambitions for economic development and regeneration across the district. You will lead and manage the major regeneration, housing, economic development and post-COVID business recovery programmes, using the Council’s assets to present innovative solutions to ongoing regeneration challenges, alongside identifying future funding opportunities. We now need to be even more proactive in creating the conditions for our people, communities and local businesses to thrive.
Reporting to the Strategic Director for Place and working closely with councillors and key internal and external stakeholders, you will play a leading role in the transformation of the district and the delivery of excellent services to local residents. Working alongside city and regional regeneration agencies on planning, economic, housing and transport strategies, as Assistant Director you will work hard to position the Council as a key player in influencing the future of the district.
We have a clear vision for the future and want you to be a part of it. You’ll have a successful track record of delivering relevant, large-scale transformation projects at a senior level, with experience of developing appropriate governance frameworks, strategies and policy to ensure the delivery of inclusive outcomes for all.
