An interim Head of SEND is needed by our local authority client.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Ensuring requests for an assessment and the issue of EHCPs are efficiently and effectively carried out within strict timelines and meet the LA quality assurance targets and are compliant within the guidance set out in the SEN Code of Practice
  • Liaising with the wider corporate directorate to lead on judicial reviews and ombudsman cases to ensure early resolution of cases.
  • Leading the team through a service restructure - implementing new systems and processes
  • Working with a range of partners to strategically plan post 16 placements for SEND ensuring that post 16 specialised support and provision is fit for purpose and meets the needs of SEND learners.

Experience at head of service level in a local authority SEND role is essential.
