Job Details

CLOSING 7TH DECEMBER

We are a partnership of four London councils (Kingston, Merton, Sutton and Croydon), working together to provide high quality, cost-effective waste collection and disposal and environmental services to over 1 million London citizens.  Established in 2003, we provide strategic leadership, day to day oversight, and co-ordinated procurement and infrastructure development to the four boroughs.  As SLWP Director you will play a critical role in enabling the partnership to develop and embed plans and priorities, providing strong leadership in the partnership setting. You will help the boroughs achieve high service delivery standards and ensure strong, embedded, transparent financial and contract management.

This is a highly visible, senior role, working with local government chief officers as well as sub-regional and regional organisations.  You will have the opportunity to establish a profile for yourself at the forefront of modern, collaborative approaches to the delivery of waste and environmental services.  With a majority of our contracts coming to an end by 2025 this is an ideal time for you to help us establish our priorities for the short, medium and long term, bringing forward innovative and creative solutions that maximise technology and deliver our green commitments.  To achieve our objectives, we will look to you to embed recent improvement work around governance and contract management and continue to drive forward our business planning and project management processes.  Delivering against high expectations will be the norm as you shape a clear vision for the partnership, establishing strong relationships with clients and providers.

Passionate and knowledgeable about waste, procurement, contract management and the environment this is a role for an individual able to move seamlessly between the strategic and the operational, bringing flair and creativity as well as attention to detail.  You will be an outstanding relationship manager and consensus builder, establishing strong relationships with a wide variety of borough partners, and someone who thrives in the complex collaborative working arrangements at the heart of our partnership.

For further information please click on the apply link where you will be able to access a role profile as well as information on the application process.  For an informal and confidential discussion, contact Mark Bearn at HAYS Executive on 07872 672290.

The closing date for applications is Monday 7th December.
