We are looking for a new Chief Executive who can confidently lead the strategic direction, corporate planning & budgetary processes, to oversee and ensure delivery of our corporate service plans, objectives & values and to secure & improve the economic social, equality & environmental wellbeing of the Scottish Borders.
With an extremely broad and complex remit, responsibilities range from leading & managing the Chief Executive’s department, working with Elected Members for effective governance, ensuring all statutory duties are delivered, acting as Returning Officer for Elections, effective Emergency Planning, whilst representing the Scottish Borders nationally from the Scottish Government, COSLA, Audit Scotland, education establishments and all major partners & stakeholders.
The successful candidate will provide effective & strategic leadership for all of the Council’s functions through successful delivery of the Council’s Single Outcome Agreement, corporate plans and Council’s Improvement Plan. You will lead on and have responsibility for best value, financial viability and statutory reporting.
Ideally with a degree and / or significant experience of leading & monitoring successful complex transformational change programmes, you will be experienced in continuous improvement & culture change techniques, with outstanding influencing, analytical & decision making skills and a comprehensive understanding of the role of Local Government and the operational environment.
