Job Details

We’re continuing to build a new future for Jersey that is modern, sustainable and prosperous for all. It’s a future that will see people, business and government come together to collaborate in a way they’ve never done before.

Since the findings of the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry back in 2017, we’ve addressed the immediate concerns around social care, safeguarding and child protection services. We have also started to improve the educational standards necessary to support our children and young people. Now it’s time to continue with our far-reaching strategy that will improve the personal outcomes and life opportunities of every child on the island.

For you it’s the exciting chance to make your mark as you lead the continuation of service improvements and recovery in this crucial, high-profile role. Setting the strategic direction and leading the deliveries of service, you’ll ensure the safety, educational, social, economic, cultural and emotional needs of children, young people and their families are met now and in the future.

We are committed to ensuring the best start for young children on the Island. This will involve building relationships with Ministers, elected Members of the States Assembly (Parliament), Children’s Commissioner for Jersey, business leaders, headteachers, higher and further education institutions alike, as well as a passion and commitment to include children and young people in your decision-making.

To be successful, you’ll need to bring experience of working in a senior leadership role, ideally focused on an education and children’s agenda. You’ll need to evidence your ability to work with, challenge and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders. You’ll be an inspirational leader, who has the ability to drive through change and deliver on the government’s promises that will secure positive outcomes for children and young people in the future.
