The context

Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care System (ICS) is seen as the most innovative, high profile and impactful health and social care partnership in country. Colleagues from a diverse range of sectors are working together to integrate services around our residents, patients and communities. We have an ambitious set of plans to address people’s health and wellbeing, making sure that we can support them in the most outstanding clinical settings but also ensure that we have excellent prevention and early intervention programmes to stop needs escalating to acute settings.

We are passionate about the power of collaboration in addressing the determinants of poor health and reducing the inequalities that exist in our County. Disruptive, joined up thinking requires new shaped roles to articulate and direct it, empowering individuals to deliver the aspirations of our new organisation reflected in our products and services, designed around the needs of our citizens. Partnership approach, and this role, will be critical to helping us find solutions for some of the big problems facing society and our County today, including how to provide better care for the vulnerable and those most in need, against the backdrop of financial constraints and ever growing demand and expectations of health and social care services.

The opportunity

Driving value from our estates has long been identified as a priority for Surrey Heartlands and a key feature of our ongoing transformation journey. Your vision and leadership will be fundamental in bringing about a step change in the management, rationalisation and realisation of the combined Health and Council estate to drive efficiencies and improved resident experiences and outcomes. Working with the Surrey Heartlands Partnership (SHP) Board and the individual partners, you will define the strategic goals for SHP property, land and assets functions, ensure they match our ambition and ultimately work to benefit the health and well-being of Surrey people. Working across a complex and political environment you will drive collaboration and influence property strategies and capital programmes to deliver placemaking priorities which maximise value from the portfolio.

The Estates opportunities are wide ranging. The estate will need to respond to the major changes which will flow from outpatient reconfiguration. Capital receipts can be used to generate a capital fund for use locally to fund transformation of the health and care system. Our aspiration is to generate revenue streams to improve resident and patient experience and to gain local control over local NHS estates and maximise value as part of a wider ‘one public estate’ strategy.

If you have the vision, tenacity and leadership to deliver this programme which will place Surrey Heartlands as a national exemplar, we want to hear from you.
