We are already a good organisation and striving to be a great one. The sector is evolving at pace, and we are seeking talented individuals to join us in ensuring that Huntingdonshire and its people and places are given every opportunity to benefit from this ambition.

As an organisation we have an enviable Medium Term Financial position, solid service delivery, and now the structure in place to enable us to take advantage and respond to the opportunities to extend our influence beyond service delivery, and into the strategic shaping of Huntingdonshire as a place and the wider public service partnership. We are on a change journey and are seeking brave and talented individuals who are confident in their ability to come and help define this journey with us.

As Assistant Director – Corporate Services you will be a leader who is confident in your ability to drive improved organisational delivery built on the foundation you establish of outstanding integrated support services. You will be judged not by what you do, but by what you enable the organisation to do. You will be brave, decisive, articulate, and able to lead a team confidently in times of uncertainty.

Responsible for leading and developing a diverse range of corporate functions, including Finance, HR, Democratic Services and Assets, you will have a proven record in building strong collaborative teams and creating the conditions that allow the organisation to operate effectively and efficiently. You will be the driving force behind a programme of commercial activity and tactical investments that secures the Council’s financial capacity to deliver its corporate and political objectives. We have a commercial appetite for risk and are open to bold and creative delivery where the return justifies the effort. This role is part of the Council’s matrixed leadership and will oversee the organisation’s corporate support functions.

As a strong and ambitious council, we are implementing further transformation to realign how we deliver efficient and effective services, maximising productivity to shape our district. This work is all underpinned with valuable customer insight and a strong digital and technology-driven agenda. Alongside key deliverables, we place the Council’s values; inspiring, collaborative, accountable, respectful and enterprising (icare) at the core of how do businesses across every service in the organisation.

Huntingdonshire is developing at an exciting pace at the heart of the internationally renowned Cambridgeshire economy, hosting the largest Enterprise Zone in the UK. It is a district that is determined to realise the growth potential of the Oxford to Cambridge ARC, whilst working collaboratively with public sector partners (and the mayoral Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority context). The strength of our partnership arrangements is unique and something we place considerable effort into deepening and benefiting from.

We want people who bring innovation and creativity. Skilled communicators, who can influence within a complex partner environment, identify and capture opportunities for organisational success, all whilst not losing sight of delivering initiatives that drive the aspiration and economic success of our people and places.  We would love to hear from you if you are as passionate as we are about the possibilities for Huntingdonshire.

Above all it is essential that you demonstrate behaviours in line with our values and a passion and a commitment to continually seek to innovate and develop our workforce, which will in turn enable us to succeed in our strategic ambitions.

We will be reviewing all applications for this post on 30 October. Please hold 20 November, which will be the assessment day for this recruitment and we will let you know after 30 October the next steps in the process.

In the meantime we’d expect that you’d like to understand more about our opportunity and the organisation and Oliver Morley, Director would be happy to meet, skype or take a call to talk to discuss further if you haven't already been in contact with us.

Please contact our Exec support team on 01480 388058 who will be happy to arrange a time with you.
