In the last three years, Solihull Council has reinforced and broadened its leadership role and reputation. We are a dynamic organisation determined to bring jobs and growth to the area and deliver excellent services to our residents. We are now looking for an outstanding individual to join our senior management team.

Our new Director of Economy and Infrastructure will have a varied and exciting ‘in tray’, including providing strategic leadership for the delivery of HS2 and associated growth, developing and delivering our ambitions for UK Central, influencing and shaping links to the Greater Birmingham and Solihull LEP, West Midlands Combined Authority and the Midlands Engine. You will also have responsibility for services associated with managing the environment, public protection, neighbourhoods, transport and highways, regeneration, promoting the economy and sustainable growth.

Candidates could come from a variety of backgrounds, such as planning, infrastructure, regeneration or inward investment. Indeed, local government experience, although valued, is not a prerequisite – instead we are looking for commercially aware candidates who can operate effectively in the public/private interface, work closely with government departments and agencies, and offer strong leadership to a diverse array of services.

We are a highly business focused and financially resilient organisation. Working within a strong and supportive team, you will drive forward our ambitious growth agenda - thereby benefiting all our residents and communities.
