DEPUTY DIRECTOR: CHILDREN’S SOCIAL CARE

Employer
City of Bradford MDC
Location
Bradford, West Yorkshire
Salary
£102K
Closing date
19 Aug 2019

Big and diverse, Bradford is the UK’s youngest city and its challenges and opportunities mirror those of the country as a whole. The goal set out in our ambitious Economic Strategy is to become the fastest growing city economy by 2030. We are the fifth biggest metropolitan authority, with a diverse population, of which 36% are from ethnic minorities, and are working successfully to build united communities. We already have a £10bn economy and 17,000 businesses, many of whom work in partnership with the Council on shared priorities, such as giving all our people and young people in particular the skills they need to prosper. This success has attracted recent new investments from companies such as PWC, NEC and Channel 4. There are also challenges, not least the fact that last year OFSTED rated our services for vulnerable children as inadequate.

This appointment is a key part of our improvement journey. It demands a depth of professional experience at the sharp-end of children’s social care, coupled with the senior management skills to make a visible difference across the District. Your track record should demonstrate your understanding of the complex challenges of a large, predominantly urban and diverse setting, and show your experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders. And your professional expertise will be rooted in core values and a passion for making a difference to young people’s lives.
