Job Details
Chelmsford City Council is responsible for shaping and managing England's newest city and its surrounds. Since being granted city status in 2012, Chelmsford is growing fast. As part of this, we're committed to creating additional homes and jobs and supporting the infrastructure to help it run smoothly. With multi-award winning festivals, the introduction of ground breaking housing solutions, and unprecedented investment in leisure and community facilities, this is an exciting time to join our Council.
We are looking to recruit a Senior Contracts and Procurement Lawyer to advise on procurement procedures, negotiating and drafting contracts preferably obtained within a local authority environment although local government experience is not essential. Applications are welcome from Solicitors, Barristers or Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives with the relevant skills and experience.
Whilst our preference is to recruit someone who already has significant Contracts and Procurement experience applications will be considered from lawyers working in other fields who have some specific Contractual and Procurement knowledge who can demonstrate an aptitude to develop quickly into this field so this could be a great next step for an experienced lawyer from another field who wants to make a switch into this specialism.
The successful applicant will be required to work 37 hours per week Monday to Friday (with potential for agile working).
For informal inquiries contact William Butcher, Legal Services Manager on 01245 606810.
Chelmsford City Council is committed to safeguarding vulnerable groups and expects all employees to share this commitment and have a range of policies and procedures in place which promote safeguarding and safer working practices across our services. The Council's Safer Recruitment process contains pre-employment vetting which includes safeguarding training, obtaining references and ensuring compliance with the Disclosure and Barring Service process.
