Lead the united borough of Brent

Ours is a borough like no other. A place where vibrant, contrasting cultures shine. Where there’s the chance to transform the landscape through leading-edge regeneration so communities can thrive. A borough that strives towards a vision of culture, empathy, and shared prosperity, by standing together as one. Here, diversity is seen as a strength – and we’ve placed it at the heart of our ambitious Borough Plan.

As our Director of Finance (and S151 officer), you’ll take on the challenge of managing our revenue and capital planning, and our financial strategies. Our financial position has been well managed, so you’ll inherit sound finances and excellent governance. We’re keen to build on these strong foundations and achieve £40million savings by 2023, which will require innovative thinking and expert business planning from you. We’ll also expect you to provide clear and balanced advice at the highest levels. With your expertise, we can tackle strategic service issues, complex policy matters and financial challenges.

We’re determined to bring about change here in the borough of Brent. You’ll therefore find a culture where you’re free to deliver at pace. To do that, you need to be a CIPFA-qualified (or equivalent) senior leader who can manage all aspects of a robust finance department – from financial planning and accounting, to financial risk management and performance. You’ll also be adept at thinking strategically and providing a sense of financial direction, with the ability to act as S151 officer and a Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO).

Ready to join a council that expects high standards of integrity and professionalism? If so, we’ll give you the chance to change an extraordinary piece of London for the better.

Closing date: Friday 28th June 2019.
